Description
Camping on Little Birch is allowed with advance permission; please contact the owners in advance at the number above if you plan to spend the night.
This small island is located in upper Middle Bay between Birch Island, White Island and Harpswell Neck. It is generally protected from wind and weather due to its sheltered position. The owners have generously allowed MITA members to stop for day use and for camping. They ask that visitors tell the MITA office if they encounter any problems on the island. The best access to this charming island is on the northwest shore. The dock and mooring on the east side of the island are private and their use is prohibited without the express permission by the owners.
There is a camping platform available for overnight use as well as a campsite in the clearing at the center of the island. Modification of the camping platform in not allowed (e.g. no nails, screws, carvings, graffiti, etc). Fires are not permitted. Cook stoves must be placed below the high tide line or on the shore's rock ledges and are not allowed on the platform or dock float. Please do not build fairy houses or erect cairns on the island.
