Description
Bar is located in the northeast part of Potts Harbor in central Casco Bay. The island is in clear view of a number of houses, commercial activity, and a local road. Relatively low and flat-topped, this small, grassy island rises just a little above the highest tide levels and has no trees or shrubs. It is a good rest stop on your way east or west through the area, but overnight camping is not allowed.
The waters near Bar are quite shallow; access is difficult at low tide. There is an extensive mudflat north of the island at low tide. For the deepest water, approach the island from the west or the east.
