Description

Wyer Island is part of the [Shiller Coastal Studies Center](https://www.bowdoin.edu/coastal-studies-center/) at Bowdoin College, a 118-acre natural preserve located on Orrs Island with 2.5 miles of shore frontage. Connected to the mainland by a low tide bar, Wyer offers a few pleasant beaches and is a nice place to rest or stretch your legs as you explore Harpswell Sound.

Visitors take note: there are several healthy patches of poison ivy on the island, particularly in the upland area and along the eastern bank. Please restrict your activity to the shoreline. The inviting sand beaches can still be enjoyed while keeping a safe distance from the poison ivy.
