Description
This tiny island near Buckmaster Neck and Sheep Island is a lovely day trip destination or lunch stop for a small group. It can be identified by four spruce trees of similar size in an open meadow of grasses and raspberry bushes.
The beach on the northwest side is most easily accessed on the top two-thirds of the tide. It can be accessed in small boats on almost any tide by picking your way carefully through the rocks and shoals. This beach, backed by rugosa roses and other wildflowers, is a good picnic spot, as are the adjacent granite ledges.
Because of its small size and fragile, windblown vegetation, it is not ideal for camping. If you need to pitch a tent, there is a gently sloping spot just north of the eastern clump of spruce trees.
