Description

Little Water sits in Mud Hole Channel at the south end of Eastern Bay between Water and Green Islands. It is about a mile east of Great Wass Island and a half mile northwest of Mistake Island. A low, bushy spruce on the south end identifies this small, grassy rock island.

Little Water is very exposed to the weather and is situated in a particularly sensitive wildlife area. In late spring and early summer there are many seals and pups around the island. Visitors should be prepared to go elsewhere if seal pups are present so that they do not become separated from their mothers. The best plan is to schedule your visit for midsummer or later. The island also contains sensitive vegetation and easily eroded banks.

Boat access is generally best on the east side, however, access becomes somewhat difficult at the lower half of the tide because of the steepness of the island's intertidal rock faces. Camping is permitted on the flat ledges or in the grass on the northwest end. Due to its fragile nature, please restrict all activity other than sleeping to the rocks (and consider sleeping on the rocks as well).
