Description

In the spirit of sharing a magnificent piece of coastal shoreline with careful campers, one generous property owner has offered a tent site on the western shore of Maquoit Bay to non-motorized boaters traveling through this quiet area. Finding the site can be an adventure as the landmarks are subtle. To locate the site, head northeast along the shoreline from Little Flying Point until you see a prominent, low-lying green cabin on the shore. Continue northeast for another 700 feet and look for a small brown cottage hidden in the trees high on the bank. You have gone too far if you reach a pair of large residences fronted by docks.

There is a small, gravel landing beach beneath the Maquoit Bay Hideaway cabin and an uprooted tree on the rocks on the eastern edge of the beach. A steep path with rock steps, partly disguised by shoreline vegetation, can be found behind the uprooted tree. Secure your vessel below and ascend the path to the cabin and camping area.

Visitors may pitch tents on the grounds to the immediate right of the cabin, at the edge of the field, along the tree line. Please tent out of sight of the road and neighboring houses. Access to this property by water is at the top half of the tide only.
