Description

As its name implies, Trio Island is formed by the three small, connected islets in the center of Canal Cove off the south shore of Seward Neck. The islets make a nice picnic destination while exploring the lower reaches of South Bay.

Access to Trio is limited to the top half of the tide so please plan your arrival and departure accordingly. Boaters should be mindful of the many rocks and ledges that surround the island and dot the entrance to the cove.

The sense of remoteness in this part of the bay alone make the journey here worthwhile. But as an added bonus, a lush crop of lowbush blueberries can be found in the center of these islets. During blueberry season it may be tempting to stay here for hours and feast on the tasty treats, but please remember to leave plenty for wildlife and other visitors. For even more fun, see if you can find the National Geodetic Survey marker embedded in a rock between two of the islets.
