Description
Owned by the same families as its big brother to the northwest, Little George Head Island is open for responsible visitation when not in use by its owners. **Before going ashore for day use or camping, all visitors should check the [online calendar](https://mita.org/blackoutdates/) to verify that the island is open for use on those dates. If the calendar indicates that the island is closed, please choose an alternate destination.**
Little George Head is quiet alternative to George Head and to neighboring Steves Island, which is in plain view. The best landing is on the northern half of the island where the sandbar connects it George Head. Natural erosion is occurring along the steep banks where the island thins to a point. Please seek out durable surfaces when ascending the bank to reach the interior so as not to expedite the erosion.
Camping is allowed in the meadow on Little George Head. A spot near the large spruce trees on the southwest end provides some shelter from southeast winds and excellent western views. Small campfires are allowed below the high tide line. Please leave no trace of your visit.
